NDIS
What are NDIS and How Does it Work?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a scheme to support Australian citizens with disability and their families and carers. It is funded by the Australian government and the participating states and is an uncapped service. To be eligible for NDIS or to become a participant, the person must meet a few access requirements. The person must be living in an area where NDIS is offered and should meet residency requirements (be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or special category visa holder). In addition, the person must be under 65 years of age and meet the specified disability requirement.
What Is the Aim of the NDIS?
The aim of the NDIS scheme is to support people with disabilities with the means to increase their independence, mobility, and social participation. To achieve this, NDIS provides necessary support to the participants. It aims to empower people with disabilities by giving them choice and control on the planning and delivery of the support that they require.
